In short
The dream you type is matched on your device and is not uploaded. The one exception is the optional AI reading: only if you ask for it and confirm the text shown to you, that text is sent for processing (details below). There are no accounts. We do not sell data and we do not run advertising.
What stays on your device
Dreams you choose to save, a recovery draft of text you typed but have not saved, your preferences (language, reduced motion), a marker for your last visit, a cache of the app’s own public files so it can open offline, and — only if you opt in — the downloaded language model.
All of this lives in your browser’s storage. “My dreams → Clear all local data” deletes it, as does clearing the site’s data in your browser. Export a backup if you want to keep a copy.
What we count
Page views, using the public path only (never a query string or fragment), plus the aggregated device, browser, approximate location and referrer data that our host’s analytics provides, and page-speed measurements (Core Web Vitals such as load time) for the same public path. We do not set analytics cookies.
We also count anonymous actions such as “a dream was saved”, “a backup was exported” or “a record was opened”: only the action name and coarse numbers (for example how long matching took), never dream text, tags, record ids or vectors.
Optional things that contact other servers
Accounts, sharing and comments (only if you sign in): your email address is kept by our provider Supabase to run your account. A dream you submit is published, anonymously and without your email, only after you confirm the text shown to you and it passes a review by hand; you can withdraw it or delete your account at any time. Comments under shared dreams are public. Do not include anything you would not want others to read. Dreams that sound like a person in crisis are never published.
AI reading (only when you press “Ask for a Starlight Reading” and confirm): the text shown to you, which you can edit, plus short excerpts of public historical dreams and cultural notes, is sent through this site’s server to the AI provider Agnes AI, whose servers may be outside your country (for example Singapore or the United States). Phone numbers, emails and links are hidden first unless you turn that off. Starlight Reading requires signing in. This site does not store the text or write it to logs; it only records the date of each reading on your account to apply the monthly allowance; the provider handles it under its own terms. A reading is kept on your device only if you save it. Do not include anything you would not want a service provider to process.
Semantic matching (off by default): with your consent your browser downloads a language model once, from the site’s own host or from Hugging Face. That host can see your IP address and which files were fetched. Your dream text never goes there; the model runs on your device.
Feedback form: opens on tally.so only when you choose it, in a new tab. Nothing from the app is attached; only what you type and submit reaches the form service and the site owner. Please do not paste your dream into it.
Source links on dream pages go to the original works (for example Project Gutenberg) and are governed by those sites.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Vercel, which, like any web host, processes standard request logs (such as IP address) to deliver and secure the site.
Your choices
Use the site without saving anything or signing in; clear local data at any time; skip the optional model, the optional AI reading and sharing; do not open the feedback form. To ask about anything here, use the feedback form and say you are writing about privacy.
Changes
If this changes, the date above changes with it.
