Not stated · Date unknown · contemporary study
Umm so that movie thing, I was thinking about this part where this guy who was like singing about his death, and I was at that part, it was like I guess not the same scene from the movie, it was just like me chilling, but then, it like switched, it wasn't that anymore, it was chemistry thing, and it was like that long, just continued, but like what I was seeing was now. It like harry potter but like...the chemistry olympics. And so it was like [professor name] Lab was Gryffindor and I was just watching us move around. And I was just like...I don't know...I guess I was like viewing it cause I was like seeing people going through the air, I guess maybe I was flying in the air too but I didn't see me I see other people. Um....uh...yeah.... And then I was just thinking about what other labs would be, and which labs are lame, and would be Hufflepuff... and that's when you.. the thing came on... that's it, I'm done.

Caliban tells of the island’s “sounds and sweet airs, that give delight, and hurt not”, and of dreaming that the clouds opened to show riches, “that, when I wak’d, I cried to dream again”. The music is what he cannot keep.

Socrates’ recurring dream said “Cultivate and make music”. Wondering whether it meant music in the ordinary sense, he composed a hymn to Apollo and turned some of Aesop’s fables into verse.
Plato, Phaedo 60c–61b (Jowett trans.)
A stranger
Did the stranger remind you of anyone, even slightly? What did they want from you?
Jung · Shadow, anima and animus
Jung read unknown figures as possible parts of the dreamer: a same-sex stranger may carry the shadow; an other-sex figure what he called the anima or animus. These are offered as lenses, not labels — and his gender framing reflects his time.
C. G. Jung, “Aion, ch. 2–3”, Collected Works 9ii
Homeric epic Classical text
In Homer, gods and dreams arrive in borrowed shapes: Athena visits Nausicaa disguised as her friend; Zeus sends a Dream to Agamemnon looking like Nestor.
Odyssey VI; Iliad II
Sky
What colour was the sky, and how far away? Were you under it, or up inside it?
Daoist classic Classical text
In the Liezi, King Mu of Zhou is carried up into a magician’s palace in the sky. He returns to find he never left his seat: “we were wandering in spirit,” the magician says — “why would the body move?”
Liezi, “King Mu of Zhou”
Roman philosophy Philosophy
In Cicero’s “Dream of Scipio”, the dreamer is taken up among the heavens and looks back at an Earth so small that Rome’s empire seems a speck.
Cicero, De re publica VI (“Dream of Scipio”)
